Playgrounds
The Parish Council is responsible for maintaining the two playgrounds:
- Bacchus Way play area
- New Street play area
The play equipment for the younger children in the play area off New Street was starting to look tired and worn out so a group was formed, supported by Morton Parish Council, to bid for funding for a new playground. We are delighted that this group successfully obtained funding from Viridor, one of the countries largest recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies.
Viridor has agreed to fund 90% of the £70,000 project. Morton Parish Council is providing the rest of the money needed.
The railings around the old playground were removed on 25th March 2012. The railings will be repainted and reused to form part of the fence around the new playground.
Contractors will start on site building the new playground on Wednesday 11th April 2012. The old playground equipment will be removed in early April.
